Dr. Nicole Panethere, ND

Natural medicine changed my life and I love being able to give back to the community I grew up in by inspiring others to change theirs for the better as well. I have been practicing naturopathic medicine in Durham Region since 2015 and I am continuously amazed by the transformations such gentle therapies can create for so many common health concerns. I treat a variety of common health conditions and I have a particular interest in chronic pain management and reducing inflammation in the body.

I completed my Honours Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology at Wilfrid Laurier University where I got to combine my love of science with my other passion of athletics and physical activity. Medical school seemed like the next logical step but when it came time to apply, something didn’t feel quite right. I realized I was entering into a profession I didn’t completely believe could help people the way I wanted to. I wanted to truly make an impact on people’s health and help them reach their potential long term, and I didn’t feel like the traditional healthcare model really supported that. I did a lot of searching and then I had my lightbulb moment! I had been a patient of naturopathic medicine my whole life and I had always combined natural therapies with conventional ones whenever possible so a career as a naturopathic doctor which allows me to do this for my patients seemed like the perfect fit!

I've also had the opportunity to work on the Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue focus shift which fostered my interest in chronic pain, mental health and autoimmune conditions. I understand how important it is for patients to feel heard and valued in their experiences, and that my job as a practitioner doesn’t end when everything is “normal” according to science. I can’t wait to help you get started on your health journey!
